OMG!

I have been slammed but wanted to post 2 things that are truly important! First of all, Meghan Mayhew has nominated my lil' ol' blog for an award! WHAT!!! I am super excited about this nomination! I just can't believe it. If you get a second, check out her blog (Click here!)

Next thing that is super important: a gingerbread freebie! I know there are tons out there but we have been having so much fun this week I have to share mine. First of all, (after my strep incident-- which I am still missing kids at school!) we did a gingerbread glyph. I have seen a few out there, but here is my version:

Click here to get the guide for this fun glyph! By the way, I got those little foam gingerbread at Target ($1 bin)!!

Today we did a pie graph! OMG! We ate gingerbread men and graphed which part of its body we ate first! They loved it!

We actually graphed the first and second bites to compare. It was fun. If you would like to do this activity in your room, then click here!

That's all I got for you this evening! Hoping to jump into bed right about now... :)

Sick Day :(

After 7 of my kiddos were absent Friday, I got strep throat! I am guessing a good proportion of those 7 had strep too! Anyway, I got to the minute clinic around noon yesterday and was told not to go back to work today so as I was feeling better this afternoon I did some non-school related Christmas tasks! I am so proud of myself I have to share photos of this teacher/boss gift I did for my kids, my hubby, and myself!

Of course I got the idea from pinterest! I have an addiction! Here is the link for anyone else who wants to make something so easy and CHEAP! Click here!

Anyway I just had to share this because I was so impressed with how awesome they look!

Will be back to school tomorrow...

Christmas Time is Here...

This week has been overloaded!! My final in Stats is over!! Thank goodness! Now I can focus on my job! This week we worked on Mrs. Jump's Mini Grinch Unit and the kids were so excited when we made the Grinch's. I have to say we couldn't have done it without my fabulous assistant. I don't know what I am going to do next year if I don't have her! Anyway, here are some of the cuter ones:

They loved this activity and so did I! We also made a new craft to hang from the ceiling. Last month we had origami leaves that we made. Last week we made pointsettias. I got this idea from pinterest: Click here!

This week we are going to have some gingerbread and Santa fun! Have a great weekend!

I am a bad blogger...

OMG! It has been a long time! I have been so busy at school and in grad school, I haven't shared in a long time. I am a bad blogger! I promise to be better this Christmas season! To start, this past week we focused on families in Social Studies and finished up our Fact Families unit. We created Fact Family Houses.

They turned out so cute! We also made family trees-- I will update pictures later this week!

Have some major work to do in my statistics class this week and then I promise to be back with something fabulous!

UPDATE: Here are some photos of our family trees! The kids did a super cute job!

Candy Corn!!!

I know this is crazy...I LOVE CANDY CORN!! I am an addict! It is horrible. Once I start I can't stop. So, I took my addiction and passed it on to my firsties! There are always a few that don't like candy corn but majority of my class loved it. We sorted different types of candy corn and graphed our findings. It is adorable!

Lucky you, I have another Halloween freebie! It is super simple and here are the supplies you need:

Ziploc Bags
Harvest Candy Corn- with a mixture of Indian Corn, regular Candy Corn, and pumpkins
Extra regular Candy Corn
Graphing Sheet- Provided Here

Just give each student a mixture of the candy corn and have fun!

Also, visit the teacher wife to learn how to make some fabulous candy corn art. We created it and it is so cute hanging in our classroom.

Check it out:

Have fun graphing!!

Jack-O-Lantern Glyph for Fun!!

It has been a while since I have had some "free" time to get on here and post. So in the spirit of Halloween I figured I would make a point to get on here...with a freebie. We are doing some Halloween themed math this week and I wanted to share. Today, we did a Jack-O-Lantern Glyph and then practiced doing tallies with a tally chart. We have been trying to do a glyph a month to incorporate these skills (like tallying and graphing). Todays glyph turned out super cute and the kids were so excited about it.

Here are some completed photos:

This was super easy to complete. I did buy the pumpkins pre-cut at the Parent-Teacher store but if you find a good pattern you could use that on orange paper. Click here to get a copy of the glyph guide for yourself.

Also, Click here for the cut-outs needed.

And, one more thing, click here for the tally table or chart that we used.

Now, tomorrow we will be sorting, tallying and graphing candy corn, indian corn, and the pumpkins that come with. I can't wait to share!

Addition!!

For the first time I am actually enjoying math instruction. We are having fun and I am trying new things and making things. This was a super cute activity we did:

These are completed. The kids followed the word problem to make a matching picture. Then they had to write the matching equation. If you would like a copy, just click the here.

Also, we are working on using more vocab so here is another freebie. There are still a few that don't know what an addend is, but it's only been a week (at least thats the excuse I am giving myself!!)

Have a great weekend!
